Klaus Berka began his career in 1975 at Carl Zeiss Jena as an application chemist for analytical measuring instruments. In 1990, he founded the company Analytik Jena and built it from “nothing” into a global enterprise with more than 1,100 employees and 130 million euros in sales. The company specialises in the development, production and sale of analytical and bioanalytical measuring instruments for a wide variety of applications in physico-chemical laboratories. The majority share in the company was taken over in 2013 by the Swiss technology company Endress and Hauser, and after a successful squeeze out, today 100% of the company belongs to the family business.
As the founder, Klaus Berka received several awards for his entrepreneurial achievements, including the Thuringian Ernst Abbe Innovation Award for his life’s work.
